The study of genocide, a gross violation of human rights, can help us understand the conditions under which genocide and other acts of mass violence are likely to take place; it can help identify the warning signs of impending violence; and it can suggest ways in which genocide may be prevented. In this respect, the Institute of Research of Genocide, Canada is engaged in research, publication and education in the field. This is achieved through comparative and interdisciplinary analysis of such cases as the Bosnian Genocide among others. We strive to show through a comparative approach that genocide is a shared human experience and, as such, must be the condemn of all individuals and institutions.
