These are the 14 women whose lives were cut short by the hate of one man on December 6, 1989. We will never forget them. IGC marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, created after 14 women were slain at Montreal’s l’École Polytechnique in 1989. They died because they were women. They died because they dared to break down barriers and enter fields dominated by men. We lost their leadership, their example and the contributions they never had a chance to make.
