PROCLAMATION
"SREBRENICA REMEMBRANCE DAY"
July 11, 2019
AND
"BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA TRIBUTE WEEK"
WEEK OF JULY 11, 2019

WHEREAS:
The Canadian Federal Parliament passed two resolutions in 2010 and 2015 acknowledging the genocide that the Serbian forces perpetrated in Srebrenica, and all of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995; and
WHEREAS:
July 11, 2019 will commemorate 24th anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide in which at least 8,372 innocent Bosniak civilians were executed and 30,000 were expelled from their homes in the worst atrocity in Europe since Holocaust; and
WHEREAS:
This anniversary raises awareness of the tragic suffering of the Bosnian people and and honours and remembers those who died as a policies of ethnic cleansing  and aggression; and
WHEREAS:
The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada and the Congress of North American Bosniaks are the umbrella organisations representing the Bosniaks in the United Sates and Canada; and
WHEREAS:
The city of Windsor recognises the importance of of this event to bring closure for the Bosnian people throuth justice and truth;
THEREFORE:

in the city of Windsor and that we call upon all citizens to work toward ending cycle violence and promoting peaceful coexistence among all.
