The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, P.C., M.P.

Minister of Foreign Affairs

Dear Minister Cannon,

In the name of more than 50,000  Canadian Bosniaks, most of them being victims of genocide during the 1992-1995 war and in the name of more than 8,000 victims in Srebrenica, The Congress of North American Bosniaks, Branch Canada and the Institute for the Research of Genocide - Canada asks of you that the Motion,  M - 416  is adopted into the Parliament by July 11th, 2010.  This year will mark the fifteenth anniversary of the worst atrocities against humanity in Europe after World War II.

We have received information from Brian Masses, MP Windsor,  that he has discussed this exact matter with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Brian Masse gave up  our motion to the office of the Minister of foreign affairs.

As you know the resolution has the support from all Canadian political parties in the parliament. In addition all Bosnian organizations within Canada and abroad are  aware of the status of this resolution and wishes to see July 11th marked in our calendars as a day of remembrance.

The presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina also requests that the Ministry of foreign affairs puts pressure on the Canadian government to make this Motion,  M - 416 an official bill in the Canadian Parliament,  by the date stated.

With this accomplishment, Canada would be joining other highly democratic states that have already made July 11th Srebrenica Remembrance Day.

Respectfully,

Professor Emir Ramic

President of the Congress of North American Bosniaks, Branch Canada and Chair of the Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada
