Bosnian Community in Canada offers support to people in Fort McMurray

Canada is a country where we look out for our neighbours and we are there for each other in difficult times. And certainly in Fort McMurray, the difficult times they are going through right now is something that we are going to unite around.

On behalf of the Bosnian community in Canada, the Congress of North American Bosniaks and the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada offer support for people in Fort McMurray as they go through this difficult time. The Bosnian Community in Canada will  respond to what Alberta Premier Rachel Notley has called the largest fire evacuation in the province's history. A raging wildfire has destroyed 1,600 homes and buildings in Fort McMurray, prompting the evacuation of some 88,000 people, according to the latest update by provincial officials."While the full extent of the damage isn't yet known, we certainly do know that for those who have been affected this fire is absolutely devastating. It's a loss on a scale that is hard for many of us to imagine.

We want to say to the residents of Fort McMurray: Bosnian Community in Canada  is with you, our thoughts are with you, our prayers are with you. All Bosnians in Canada will stand by you.

We invite all citizens of Bosnian origin in Canada interested in helping to donate to BCRA for McMuray Relief. You can send your tax deductible donation through www.bosnianrelief.org
