17 July, Day of International Criminal Justice.
17 July, Day of International Criminal Justice.
It is the anniversary of the Rome Statute, the document that established the International Criminal Court - ICC in 1998. The ICC prosecutes perpetrators of the worst crimes known to humankind: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression. There is a long way to go. Right now, genocides and atrocities are happening in Myanmar, China, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Laos, and more. We must end impunity. Today, we stand with the victims and survivors of atrocity crimes. We urge a stronger commitment to international justice.
