PISMO OWEN PREDSJEDNIKU UNIVERZITETA U VANKUVERU

February 24, 2011 (SYL) - Serbian-American professor Dr Srdja Trifkovic was denied access into Canada after being accused of holding a senior position in the Government of Republika Srpska during the Bosnian war by the Vancouver airport immigration authorities. Srdja, who was a foreign affairs expert with links in the Bosnian Serb Government, never held any position in that Government, let alone a senior one. The fabricated reason for deportation was likely the result of lobbying by the extremist organization "The Institute for Research of Genocide in Canada", which is notorious for inventing stories, such as the disproven lie that Canadian General MacKenzie raped a Bosnian woman at a time when he wasn't even in Bosnia, as well as denying the Holocaust in Yugoslavia during World War II. Also, there are strong indications that higher factors in the Canadian government are involved in this scandalous and dark chapter in Canadian history, the investigation is under way."What that means I presume is that you'll come under attack over MacKenzie.  If you want to put together a couple of answers so that now Trifkovic is out of the way you're ready to come back to SYL or Lord Byron on either MacKenzie or Jasenovac, I'll be happy to check them through.  I suggest that you tackle them separately - it's easier to be answer more effectively, rather than sound defensive. And congratulations once again on subjecting the Serbian lobby to this scandalous and dark chapter in Canadian history - they should be able to recognise a scandalous and dark chapter in history better than anyone!

All the best

The latest accusations against the Canadian Institute for the Research of Genocide by a group of Srebrenica genocide deniers on behalf of the so called "Lord Byron Foundation for Balkan Studies" are led by a disreputable and highly figure, genocide denier and former Canadian Ambassador who maintained warm relationship with Slobodan Milosevic's apartheid regime, James Bissett.

The Lord Byron Foundation for Balkan Studies is disreputable outfit of hard core Serbian nationalists and genocide deniers that has no authority to comment on issues of genocide during World War II or Bosnian war.

Our Institute and the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington  both accept that during World War II, between 45,000 and 52,000 Serbs died in Jasenovac camp, not 700,000. James Bissett, who regularly denies the Bosnian Genocide at Srebrenica, accused us of being genocide deniers - an accussation coming from horses mouth.

Prof. Emir Ramic does not speak on behalf of "Bosnians" but on behalf of Bosniaks. The Institute, however, speaks on behalf of all victims of genocide. We're comprised of wide variety of people, coming from Canadian, American, British, Serb, and other backgrounds, including Holocaust survivors. Our institutes strives for the truth and we oppose all attempts to deny genocide.

Genocide deniers like James Bissett and Srdja Trifkovic do not take into account that Serbs killed 100,000 Bosnian Muslims in World War II. For him apparently, those murders do not constitute genocide. He also dismisses Srebrenica genocide in the Bosnian war as a lie. The fact is that James Bissett has no credibility, nor does he have ability to authoritatively speak on the issue of genocide in former Yugoslavia.

The Canadian Institute for the Research of Genocide has come under attack from the The Lord Byron Foundation for Balkan Studies for its representations to the University of British Columbia in connection with the offer by [whoever it actually was there who invited him] to the notorious Srdja Trifkovic of a platform for his notorious views.

Trifkovic has been a doughty apologist for genocide.  He was the "unofficial" spokesperson of the Bosnian Government at the time of the Srebrenica slaughter in July 1995 and present at the offices of the Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic while the genocidal executions were being organised and carried out by Bosnian Serb Army forces commanded by General Ratko Mladic.

For the last two decades he has routinely sought to defend and mitigate the actions of the murderous Bosnian Serb conspiracy found responsible by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice for the genocidal killings of over 8000 men and boys at Srebrenica.  Most recently he testified on behalf of Ljubisa Beara, found guilty last year by the ICTY of having been the logistics expert responsible for the detailed organisation of the mass slaughter.

The Canadian Institute has no need to defend itself against criticism from the President of an organisation whose Executive Director - Srdja Trifkovic - was himself the mouthpiece for genocide.

The Canadian Institute for the Research of Genocide is extremely concerned that the notorious Srdja Trifkovic is to be provided with a platform at the University of British Columbia for his toxic views aimed at encouraging ethnic and religious intolerance in Europe and North America.

Srdja Trifkovic is an expatriate Serb who hates Muslims to the extent of being willing to act as the spokesperson for the perpetrators of genocide. He was media relations adviser to the secessionist Bosnian Serb Government at the time it was conducting the mass executions of Bosnian Muslims at Srebrenica in July 1995.   He admitted to the International Criminal Tribunal at The Hague that he was closeted with the inner circle of the Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic while atrocities were being organised and carried out by the Bosnian Serb army commanded by General Ratko Mladic.

The Institute exists to establish the truth and raise awareness of the reality of genocide.  It is convinced that the promise of "Never Again" is meaningless unless we are prepared to speak out and condemn the promoters of inter-communal hatred responsible for the bloodshed and destruction of the past two decades in places like Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.

Srdja Trifkovic has spent those two decades challenging the findings of international courts that the criminal conspiracy with which he was associated committed "a terrible crime – the worst on European soil since the Second World War", as the United Nations Secretary General described it, the genocidal murder of more than 8000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica. Now, not content with denying genocide, Trifkovic has brought his campaign of hatred against Muslims across the Atlantic as he tours the college circuit encouraging distrust, prejudice and ethnic intolerance.

From Providence, Rhode Island, to UBC in Vancouver Trifkovic seeks out venues where student groups like Youth for Western Civilization and the Serbian Students Club are prepared to tolerate his extremist views and his stereotyping and criminalisation of entire communities.  The Canadian Institute for the Research of Genocide unhesitatingly condemns Trifkovic's efforts to sow the seeds of future  division and conflict.

The Institute is not impressed by efforts on the part of the front organisation of which Srdja Trifkovic is Chief Executive, the so-called "Lord Byron Foundation for Balkan Studies", to distract attention from the controversy surrounding the UBC invitation to Trifkovic by raising the spectre of terrible events during World War II.  The Foundation's President, former Canadian Ambassador James Bissett, supporter and defender of the late Slobodan Milosevic, is regularly associated with Trifkovic in Serbian propaganda initiatives aimed at excusing the crimes of the Bosnian Serbs. The Institute considers that Bissett might not unreasonably be asked where he stands with regard to his Chief Executive's racist attitudes and pronouncements.

The Institute speaks out not just on behalf the victims of genocide in Bosnia but on behalf of all victims of genocide, wherever and whoever they are. The Institute brings together a wide variety of individuals of different cultures, faiths and nationalities - Canadians, Americans, Bosnians, Serbians and others, including Holocaust survivors. The Institute's President, Dr Emir Ramic, affirms that "Our Institutes seeks after the truth and we oppose all attempts to deny genocide and create division.  We wholeheartedly condemn the decision to allow Srdja Trifkovic, the mouthpiece for genocide, this opportunity to spread hatred and intolerance."
