Dear Samuel Algozin
Officer-in-Charge, Registry, Hague branch
The Association "Woman Victim of War" was founded in 2003 with the primary goal of bringing together sexually abused and raped women as well as men in the 1992-1995 period. The association is a non-governmental, non-partisan, multi-ethnic, and multinational organization.
The association, "Woman Victim of War," opposes the early release of the convicted war criminal Mr. Stojan Župljanin. A possible early release would be a defeat of international justice, an insult and humiliation of the victims, an attack on truth and justice and a complete senselessness of the work, and a failure of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts.
At the same time, it would be a heavy blow to the surviving victims of aggression and genocide in their constant struggle for truth and justice. The Association "Woman Victims of War" especially points out that the eventual early release of the war criminal Mr. Stojan Župljanin represents a great risk for the reconciliation and the re-establishment of the processes of acceptance, recognition, respect, and tolerance of the other and the different in the Bosnian society.
Such a decision would be a reward for the masterminds and perpetrators of aggression and genocide and does not contribute to peace and trust in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, Europe, and the world. It would also further degrade the work of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts, international law, and order and thus threaten peace and stability in the world.
The one who commits the most severe forms of war crimes and crimes against humanity, the one who, for the realization of nationalist goals, devises a genocidal plan with the aim of destroying or persecuting specific ethnic groups, the one who plans the division of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina for these goals, the one who does not at all repent for the greatest crimes after the Second World War in Europe cannot be released on early release. His full prison sentence should be a warning to future generations that the most terrible crimes against man and civilization do not pay off.
The Association "Woman Victim of War" continues its daily activity against the associated revisionists who aim to equate victims and perpetrators by denying judicial, historical, and scientific facts about aggression and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina and glorifying convicted war criminals.
The association, "Woman Victim of War," raises its voice against the celebration of crimes and says that it will fight with all means against the legalization of the results of aggression and genocide.
We call on the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts to fulfill its mission by the end of its mandate, which is based on bringing justice and warning future generations that the crime of aggression and genocide does not pay and will be sanctioned.
Sincerely yours,
Bakira Hasec?ic?
