CANADA VOTES “YES” TO CEASEFIRE IN UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING
IGC send a letter to Minister Melanie Joly About the UN Ceasefire Vote.
Canada’s vote at the United Nations General Assembly called for a ceasefire.
Canada’s vote for a ceasefire is an important step. Over 70% of Canadians want the violence to end in Gaza and this vote is a reflection of that. Our voices must be heard.
Dear Minister Joly:
We are writing to acknowledge Canada’s vote at the United Nations General Assembly that called for a ceasefire. To be clear, this vote came far too late. The lives of everyone are precious, whether Israeli or Palestinian. Yet Gaza was turned to rubble while we were still talking about international law. Thousands of children were killed. It took far too long for the Canadian government to side with peace and justice than it should have. And the war still rages on; Canada has much more to do to stand.
