Director of the Institute For Research of Genocide Canada (IGK) Emir Ramic will at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Denis Becirovic and the Ambassador of BiH to the United Nations (UN) Zlatko Lagumdzija to attend the session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) where the Resolution on the "International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica" will be discussed and adopted.

 

IGK actively participated in the lobbying process for the adoption of the Resolution. A special activity was in Canada which is the sponsor of the Resolution.

 

After three decades since the genocide in Srebrenica, the UN adopts the Resolution "International Day of Recognition and Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica 1995". This Resolution is very important because it declares July 11 as the World day of remembrance of the genocide in Srebrenica and condemns without reservation any denial of the genocide in Srebrenica as a historical event, condemns the glorification of convicted war criminals and calls on member states to preserve the established facts, including through their educational systems, by developing appropriate programs, also as a sign of remembrance, in order to prevent the denial and distortion of facts, and the occurrence of genocide in the future.

 

Statement by IGK-Director Emir Ramic before leaving to New York:

 

"Supporting the Resolution is crucial in our common search for justice, truth, a culture of remembrance and responsibility. By fighting for justice, we preserve peace. I ask all members of the UN General Assembly to support the Resolution. Let us reflect on the message of the Resolution as we seek invaluable support at the UN General Assembly.  Because Srebrenica, BiH and the world need justice and recognition for the victims and survivors. In recent months, Srebrenica has been returned to the global international stage as a symbol of the fight for justice, truth, reconciliation, learning, prevention of genocide and ultimately a symbol of the fight against the denial of genocide and the glorification of convicted war criminals. No one can escape from that. Thank you to everyone in the world who raise their voices for the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica and justice for the victims of that terrible crime."

Direktor Instituta za istraživanje genocida Kanada {IGK} Emir Rami? ?e na poziv predsjedavaju?eg Predsjedništva Bosne i Hercegovine {BiH} Denisa Be?irovi?a i ambasadora BiH u Ujedinjenim narodima {UN} Zlatka Lagumdžije prisustvovati sjednici Generalne skupštine UN na kojoj ?e se razmatrati i usvajati Rezolucija o "Me?unarodnom danu sje?anja i obilježavanja genocida u Srebrenici”.

 

IGK je aktivno u?estvovao u procesu lobiranja za usvajanje Rezolucije. Posebna aktivnost je bila u Kanadi koja je sponzor Rezolucije.

 

Nakon tri decenije od genocida u Srebrenici, UN donose Rezoluciju "Me?unarodni Dan priznanja i sje?anja na genocid u Srebrenici 1995". Ova Rezolucija je veoma važna jer se time 11. juli proglašava kao svjetski dan sje?anja na genocid u Srebrenici te osu?uje bez rezerve svako poricanje genocida u Srebrenici kao historijskog doga?aja, osu?uje glorifikovanje presu?enih ratnih zlo?inaca i poziva države ?lanice da o?uvaju utvr?ene ?injenice, uklju?uju?i i kroz svoje obrazovne sisteme, razvijanjem odgovaraju?ih programa, tako?er u znak sje?anja, u cilju sprije?avanja poricanja i iskrivljavanja ?injenica, te pojave genocida u budu?nosti. 

 

Direktor IGK Emir Rami? je prije odlaska u New York izjavio:

 

"Podrška Rezoluciji je klju?na u našoj zajedni?koj potrazi za pravdom, istinom, kulturom sje?anja i odgovornoš?u. Bore?i se za pravdu, ?uvamo mir. Molim sve ?lanice Generalne skupštine UN da podrže Rezoluciju. Razmislimo o poruci Rezolucije dok tražimo neprocjenjivu podršku na Generalnoj skupštini UN. Jer Srebrenica, BiH i svijet imaju potrebu za pravdom i priznanjem za žrtve i preživjele. Srebrenica je poslednjih mjeseci ponovo vra?ena na globalnu internacionalnu scenu kao simbol borbe za pravdu, istinu, pomirenje, u?enje, prevenciju genocida i u kona?nici simbol borbe protiv negiranja genocida i glorifikovanja presu?enih ratnih zlo?inaca. Od toga niko više ne može pobje?i. Hvala svima u svijetu koji dižu svoj glas za istinu o genocidu u Srebrenici i pravdu za žrtve tog strašnog zlo?ina".
