The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada thanks the Mayor of St. Catharines. The genocide in Srebrenica is a constant shameful tragedy of man and civilization. On the 27th anniversary of the genocide, our thoughts are with mothers, wives, sisters and daughters who continue to bear the wounds of their loss. We respect and sympathize with their pain, not only by working continuously to bring criminals to justice, but also by giving them hope for a better future through the struggle for truth, justice and a culture of remembrance.
In 1995, more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were murdered in Srebrenica by the army, paramilitaries and police forces of the Republic of Srpska.
