Poštovane majke Srebrenice, porodice žrtava, preživjelih, uvaženi organizatori, cijenjene zvanice,
okupljamo se i ove godine širom svijeta kako bismo odali po?ast nevinim žrtvama genocida u Srebrenici i zajedno obilježili 31. godišnjicu. To ?inimo zbog onih koji su ubijeni, zbog njihovih porodica koje ve? tri decenije nose teret gubitka, ali i zbog naše obaveze da istina ostane sa?uvana.
Zelim zahvaliti organizatorima što ve? gotovo deset godina Windsor ?ine mjestom centralne kanadske komemoracije. Time pokazujete da sjecanje ne poznaje granice i da žrtve Srebrenice nisu zaboravljene.
Genocid u Srebrenici utvrden je presudama medunarodnih sudova. Zato je na svima
nama odgovornost da se svako negiranje genocida i veli?anje odgovornih jasno i
dosljedno odbace.
Bosna i Hercegovina ostaje zahvalna Kanadi, njenim institucijama i svim nivoima vlasti na kontinuiranoj institucionalnoj podršci našoj zemlji, kao i na dosljednoj podršci o?uvanju istine o genocidu u Srebrenici. Rezolucije, komemoracije i
obrazovne aktivnosti koje se provode širom Kanade predstavljaju važan doprinos kulturi sjecanja i zajedni?koj borbi protiv negiranja genocida.
Neka uspomena na nevino ubijene bude trajna opomena i neka se nikome nikada ne ponovi Srebrenica.
Respected Mothers of Srebrenica, families of victims, survivors, esteemed organizers, and distinguished guests,
we gather once again this year—across the world—to pay tribute to the innocent victims of the Srebrenica genocide and to mark its 31st anniversary together. We do so for those who were killed, for their families who have carried the burden of loss for more than three decades, and for our shared obligation to preserve the truth.
I would like to thank the organizers for making Windsor the central Canadian memorial site for almost ten years. You demonstrate that memory knows no borders and that the victims of Srebrenica are not forgotten.
The genocide in Srebrenica has been established by the judgments of international courts. It is therefore the responsibility of all of us to clearly and consistently reject any denial of the genocide and any glorification of those responsible.
Bosnia and Herzegovina remains grateful to Canada—its institutions and all levels of government—for their continued support to our country, as well as for their steadfast commitment to preserving the truth about the Srebrenica genocide. The resolutions, commemorations, and educational activities carried out across Canada represent an important contribution to the culture of remembrance and to our common fight against genocide denial.
May the memory of the innocently murdered be a lasting reminder, and may Srebrenica never be repeated—anywhere, to anyone.
